Ping Lacson listed the achievements of President Duterte from 2017-2018

Senator Panfilo Lacson in his Twitter page posted a list of some of the achievements of the Duterte administration from 2017-2018.

As the President is going to deliver his third State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 23, the police chief-turned-politician believes that the things that he listed would be mentioned by Duterte during his speech.

These are the achievements of President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned by Lacson:

1. Marawi Liberation

Ater five months of battle between the government forces and members of Maute group, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the liberation of Marawi City after the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) captured the final stronghold of the ISIL-inspired group.
2. Boracay Rehabilitation

After President Rodrigo Duterte described Boracay as a ‘cesspool’ on February 9, he announced the plans to close the island to rehabilitate.

Duterte gave an ultimatum to his cabinet members to clean Boracay within six months or else he would fire them.

On April 26, the government decided to close Boracay temporarily for six months which resulted in the discovery of hundreds of violations committed by business owners.

On June 11, Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu announced that Boracay will officially reopen again on October 26.
3. Mighty Corp settled Php 30B tax case

Tobacco Giant Mighty Corporation paid 30 billion-peso to the government after they were proven evading taxes.

Duterte accused the Might Corp before by using counterfeit tax stamps to avoid paying 37.88 billion worth of taxes.

He threatened to file a criminal charges against the company, but the Tobacco giant offered a big amount of money to just settle the case.
4. PAL Settled PHP 6B debt to govt

On October 6, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened Philippine Airlines (PAL) CEO Lucio than that he would close Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2 if the airline giant is not going to pay their debts to the government worth 6-B pesos within 10 days.

He also shared that Tan offered money to Duterte during the campaign period, but he refused because he knew that the airline company needs to pay taxes to the government.

As a result, PAL finally paid P6-B to the government to finally settle a long-standing debt issue.
5. Sunvar vacated Mile long property

After President Rodrigo Duterte slammed the Prieto and Rufino families, the owners of Philippine Daily Inquirer for being critical to his government.

He also revealed the controversial case of the Long Mile property which the two families also owned.

Duterte said that the Mile Long property which owned by the government has been leased to the Prietos and Rufinos in 1982 until 2002, however, until 2017, the two families didn’t vacate the building.

The President threatened the two families that he would sue them for “economic sabotage” and they would not be allowed to post bail to experience the life of being a criminal.

In August 2016, the mile-long property has been vacated by Sunvar Realty Development Corporation.
6. Congress passed the Bangsa Moro Organic Law

The battle for the proposed State of Bangsamoro has already been ended, after the lawmakers finally approved the ‘Bangsamoro Organic Law’.

The bill which also known as the Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OLBARMM) would pave way for the creation of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, replacing ARMM.

The Bangsamoro government will be parliamentary-democratic and it will be headed by the regional leader called the Chief Minister.

Duterte is expected to sign the Bangsamoro Organic Law on SONA day.
7. Solgen won quo warranto case vs ex CJ

In May 2018, Maria Lourdes Sereno has become the first Chief justice to be ousted by her own colleagues in the Supreme Court.

This was after Solicitor General Jose Calida filed a quo-warranto petition against Sereno.

Eight Associate Justices voted in favor of Sereno’s ouster.
