Watch! | Pres. Duterte Admin, Planning to Build a ‘Pollution-Free’ city in Clark to Help Decongest Manila

Duterte administration is planning to build a city in Clark which be worth $14-B to lessen the crowd in Metro Manila.

In May, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) already started it’s bidding process for companies who wanted to design, finance, operate and maintain the power and water systems in the metropolis which be called ‘New Clark City’.

According to its plan, the 36 square miles Metropolis would house up to 2 million people and the buildings there was planned to be environmentally friendly.

The report of business insider said that New Clark City would be divided into five districts with each have a specific function: government, business, education, agriculture, and recreation.

It would also be unlikely to be flooded because of the City’s minimum elevation is 184 feet above sea level.

“Clark will soon be the showcase of the Duterte administration’s economic strategy. We expect this area to be the growth driver for central and northern Luzon,”

The city would also be futuristic, as the government envisioned that only electric cars would only roam the streets.

According to Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, Clark will showcase the “economic strategy” of the Duterte administration.

“We expect this area to be the growth driver for central and northern Luzon,” Dominguez said.

As a preparation to New Clark City, the finance chief said that they’re already planning to build two infrastructure project that would be made to ease the travel to the said metropolis.

He cited the Philippine National Railways North 2 project that will connect Clark Airport and Clark New City to Malolos, Bulacan.

Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte predicted that within 25 years, Metro Manila will become a dead city, that’s why he wanted to develop Clark.

“Clark is a very important arterial place kasi ito ‘yung papalabas talaga ng Luzon upwards…and the development because it is very important that we disperse the industries,” Duterte said.

“Manila, I think will be in about 25 years… be dead city. It will start to decay and there is no way that we can rehab the place.” he added.
