The man who allegedly claimed that Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) Secretary-General Renato Reyes bought an overpriced projector in their shop revealed himself and met with the activist on Thursday.
Gabriel Ilano, on Tuesday, posted a Facebook post claiming that he met Reyes in their TechShop in Gilmore and asked him to mark up the projector worth 15,000 to 30,000 pesos.
After the post quickly went viral on social media, Reyes utterly denied the accusations of Ilano and announced his plans to file charges towards the netizen for posting libelous information against him.
One day after Reyes announced his plan against Ilano, the latter went to the BAYAN office to meet the activist and to explain his side.
In the video posted by Reyes on Friday, Ilano explained that his account has been hacked and the man who posted the libelous social media post against the activist is not him.
He also urged the netizens to stop spreading his social media post.
Ilano expressed his intention to cooperate with Reyes to clean the name of the activist.
Meanwhile, Reyes clarified that Ilano is not going to be fired from his work.
He also urged the public to stop joining the bandwagon in sharing fake news for the sake of likes and shares.
The activist mentioned the Facebook page “Filipino Trends” for spreading the post of Illano, he also that he would take an action against the said admins of the said page.
